Junction City Big Band

I haven't written on this blog for a year! But I have some news. On Friday night, I played tenor saxophone with the Junction City Big Band at the dance they do at Weber State University. The leader of the band approached me after the dance and asked me to stay on permanently with the band. During the school year, we do the dance every month ($7 to get in, $1 for a 30 minute class before the dance to show some dance steps). I am told we will be playing a few gigs this summer as well. I will keep you posted. Everyone plan to come learn to swing dance one time in the next year! It will be a lot of fun. The band sounds great. We play old big band standards.

Jazz Gig

Last night I played a jazz gig with the Weber State University Faculty/Alumni Band. They asked me to play the lead alto sax part in the big band they put together. Dr. Keipp brought in two guest artists: Bobby Shew on trumpet, and Matt Harris on piano. Matt had also written/arranged much of the music for the band. It was very impressive to listen to them. I had a lot of fun playing. Thanks to Chay and April, Tara was able to come listen while they watched Gage. I was pleasantly shocked to see her there. Thanks Dr. Keipp for asking me to play. Hi everyone. Thanks for stopping by to see my new blog. I am just learning, so be patient with me. I have a link on this blog to my storefront at lulu.com. I used this publishing company to self publish my first book for piano solo. It has been a personal goal of mine for years. Surprisingly, several people really like the book, so maybe it will catch on.

I am working on trying to publish some sheet music for piano solo. An arrangement of a medley of two hymns. I will let you know when this comes into fruition.

I am also working on another book. This time, I want to do all original compositions for piano and voice. It will be a holiday/winter book. I am excited about the ideas I am coming up with.
